Enotria charity

taylans project

Charitable causes are close to the heart of many at Enotria, and our staff undertake all sorts of events and initiatives to raise awareness and funds for a huge range of good causes.

2011 was a fantastic year for fundraising at Enotria; In total we raised an incredible £18,000 for Cancer Research, donated over £4,500 worth of wine to charitable causes, and contributed £1,515 to staff - nominated charities of choice through our matching policy. We even collectively ate our way through over £800 worth of sweets in support of Great Ormond Street  (not sure how good this is for our dental health!)  This rounds up to almost £25,000!!!

Fundraising for Cancer Research last year gave us real focus to our charity efforts and clearly this was a cause close to many of our hearts.  Given our success, we decided to have a vote amongst all staff to decide what and how we should choose for our charitable endeavours in 2012. The voting helped us to decide upon Taylan's Project.

Taylan Rawlinson was the son of Andy Rawlinson, who works in the Off Trade Team at Enotria. Taylan developed a brain tumour and tragically died aged 7 in August 2009. Andy and his wife Figen have worked tirelessly since Taylan's death to raise awareness for this relatively unknown but extremely dangerous form of cancer. Brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending in the UK yet this devastating disease kills more children and people under the age of 40 than any other cancer.  Their website www.taylansproject.com carries more details.

Donations can be made directly at www.justgiving.co.uk/taylansproject

We all look forward to working hard in 2012 to raise awareness and money for this worthwhile project.

At the same time, Enotria retains its popular policy of matching employees' charitable fundraising efforts for their own causes, up to a maximum single donation of £250.  With 170 staff in February 2012, this by itself could lead to the company contributing as much as £40,000 to a whole host of other charities!
