From humble beginnings importing wines from a handful of friendly Italian wine producers, Enotria has grown to become the UK’s leading specialist wine supplier, celebrating 40 years in the trade in 2012.
Founded in 1972 by Remo Nardone, Enotria soon established itself as the UK’s leading importer of Italian wines, a reputation we still enjoy today. Having established a strong foothold in the Italian restaurant sector, Enotria began to expand its portfolio in the 1980s to include wines from the classic regions of France and Spain, as well as the fledgling New World wine industry.
This growth continued apace in the 1990s with agencies from Chile, South Africa and elsewhere in the Southern Hemisphere joining an ever growing Old World line-up. In 1999 Enotria began a ground-breaking joint venture with Sicily’s most important co-operative, with over 6,000 hectares of vineyards and nearly 2,300 member wine growers.
During the new millennium, Enotria’s success has lead to continued investment to keep pace with the scope of its growing business, with the development of a state of the art distribution hub in London’s Park Royal, ably assisted by a team of dedicated customer service personnel.
Enotria’s reputation for having the highest levels of service and a range of wines that represent the very best of breed in the industry have been recognised by the bevy of awards we have received over the years. These have served to underline our continued pursuit of excellence at every level, and have included International Wine Challenge Italian Specialist award 2010 & 2011, On Trader Supplier of the Year 2012 (Drinks Business Awards 2012) and New World Wine Merchant of the Year 2014 (Sommelier Wine Awards).
The senior management team has always had one goal, and that is to be the best in the business. Today’s talented team is headed by Troy Christensen (CEO), Steve Varnish (CFO), Fraser McGuire (On Trade Sales Director), Mark Kermode (International Director), John Hearn (Off Trade Commercial Director), Jon Pepper MW (Buying & Retail Director), Helen Munday (Marketing Director), Boris Pucelle (Director of Business Strategy), Simon Clarke (Supply Chain and IT Director) and Gemma Bolton (Director of Human Resources). Under this dynamic leadership Enotria continues to focus on providing the highest quality wines and highest levels of service to the UK trade.
