Deep ruby-red with very marked violet hue. The fine, fruity bouquet is very persistent with clear-cut overtones of plums and cherries. 2012 VUJ, Friulano DOC Isonzo

    (6x75cl)

This 100% Friulano wine shows vegetal aromas and notes of Pomegranate and Green Apple. It has a fresh and vibrant mouth feel and great length.

  4. 2011 Château du Donjon Grande Tradition

Dark reddish-purple, this Languedoc red breathes ripe, grapey fruit, raspberry fruits, and fragrant black pepper with a lightly herbaceous 'leafy' back note. Full and luscious on the first taste, its juicy black fruit is nicely balanced by tart, crisp acidity, with soft tannins lurking behind the fruit to create a fresh, mouth-watering flavour - great structure. Very luscious on palate. Finishes on ripe intense black fruit finish - delicious!

  5. 2012 Coralinga Sauvignon Blanc, Henschke

Pale green-gold in colour. The vibrant nose shows lifted lemon blossom, gooseberry, melon and grassy aromas. The palate is delicate yet rich with layers of flavours, good balance, and finishing crisp and long.

  6. 2011 Fleurie Poncié, Domaine du Vissoux

Shiny crimson with deep purple tints.Nose - delicate and floral, fully blown rose, peony, violet. Palate - the silky Poncié tannins give suppleness, delicacy and elegance. Really flavourful. Over and above red fruit, you will find notes of toast and undergrowth with an end that is often peppery.

  7. 2007 Synchronicity, Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Pinotage, Martin Meinert

A big rich wine from South Africa that emanates wild berry and sweet plum aromas. Silky, velvety texture and elegance in the mouth that counterpoints its power.

  8. 2010 Reserve Pinot Noir, Yering Station

Concentrated and complex nose with lovely ripe, intense fruit of black cherry and plums. Fine French oak adds a toasty, smoky aroma. The palate is full, plush and concentrated with great poise and velvety tannins. It has a long, persistent finish.

Very complex in quite full-on style that splits the difference between, say, Mornington and Russian River Valley. Great sweetness. Spicy and flattering – quite long. 17/20 - Jancis Robinson MW
