  1. 2011 Muscat de Saint Jean de Minervois, Domaine de Barroubio

This fortified sweet wine - vin doux naturel - is shimmering golden in the glass with an intense, complex nose of grapes, pear, rose petals and citrus. On the palate it is sweet, rich, powerful with a balancing zesty acidity on the long finish.

  2. 2010 Gigondas les Hauts de Montmirail, Domaine Brusset

Deep crimson in colour, with a rich, spicy, smoky aroma, showing hints of chocolate and blackberry and a rounded, powerful palate with mouthfilling fruit.

  3. 2004 Amarone Classico DOC, Bertani

A deep garnet red colour witnesses the long barrel ageing. The first impression on the nose is of fresh black cherry aromas, leading into notes of maraschino cherry and plum. Immense depth and complexity on the palate: dried fruit, oolong tea, liquorice, spice, red-berry fruits, and a long velvety vanilla note on the finish. However, the key to this wine has got to be the sweetness level. It is genuinely dry, unlike many modern-style competitors.

  4. 2006 Château Gruaud Larose, Cru Classé, St. Julien

A forward, deep purple wine with a sweet blueberry, kirsch and jam scented nose, medium bodied with more rounded up-front fruit than most of the other serious wines of St. Julien.

  5. 2010 Rully 1er Cru Rabourcé, Domaine Jaeger-Defaix

A real success for this fine wine, with some pine, lemon and soft aromas showing through. The palate keeps on and on and evolves with a great depth.

  6. 2011 White Zinfandel, Devil's Ridge

Delightful aromas of strawberries and cream with a luscious sweetness and fruit filled bouquet.

  7. 2010 Cavendish Cuvee Merret, Ridgeview

A lovely golden straw colour and exceptionally fine bubbles. The nose is full with hints of red fruits. The pinot dominance brings depth and complexity to the palate with a long lasting finish, whilst the Chardonnay adds finesse and freshness. On early release the Cavendish is quite fruit focussed but will continue to develop more complex biscuit and bready characteristics over time. Drink now or age for the next two or three years.

  8. 2010 Vintage Tunina IGT, Vinnaioli Jermann

Bright straw in colour with golden reflections, the nose is very elegant with persistent scents of honey and country flowers. Dry, soft and well balanced with a full body.

  9. NV Lot 53 XO, Cognac Tesseron

Mahogany in colour this cognac hits first with a heady aromatic tang which gives way to more subtle hints of wood, dried fruits and tobacco. On the palate pepper and spices are in the fore front before revealing dark chocolate and fresh herbs. This cognac is opulent, rounded and complex with very good length.

  10. 2008 Rosso di Montalcino, Il Poggione

It has an intense ruby-red colour. It has a concentrated bouquet, composed of sour black cherry, blackcurrant and soft vanilla. On the palate flavours of coffee and black fruit can be found. A fine length with very elegant and soft tannins.
