  1. 2008 Reserva, Pago de los Capellanes

The nose has a fine complexity with tones of ripened fruit such as cherry, cassis and plum all harmonised by the wood and spice character (vanilla and cocoa) with undercurrents of liquorice. The palate displays great balance with glossy, mature tannins and elegant fruit character that echoes the nose. The finish is long and elegant.

  2. 2009 Magno Megonio IGT, Librandi

Ruby red colour with a persistent, particularly intense bouquet. The palate is well structured, offering an array of rich berry, cassis and spicey flavours alongside its textured, well integrated tannins which encourage the lengthy finish with a good grip.

  3. 2007 Amarone Classico Corte Bra, Sartori

Ruby in colour; ripe fruit aromas, with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and dried herbs; full bodied on the palate with rich fruit flavours, bright acidity, and a lingering finish.

  4. 2008 Morgenster Estate Red, Morgenster

Dark plum, concentrated centre and opaque to the edges. Enticing with almonds, coffee and sweet caramel, and alluring sniffs of cassis and vanilla pods. Great freshness with hits of blackberry sweetness. Elegant entry, very plush and immediately filling. Sweeter dark berry fruit very evident, which contributes well to balancing the minerality which adds a lot of weight.

  5. 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, De Gras

Brilliant red with hints of bay leaf, herbs and spicy blackcurrants on the nose, typically Chilean in style. The palate offers blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry, soft tannins with lingering spicy fruit and a firm finish.

  6. 2007 Synchronicity, Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Pinotage, Martin Meinert

A big rich wine from South Africa that emanates wild berry and sweet plum aromas. Silky, velvety texture and elegance in the mouth that counterpoints its power.

  7. 2009 Abbotts Prayer Merlot Cabernet, Henschke

Very deep crimson in colour. Sweet, spicy aromas of violets, forest hints, dusty mulberries and blueberries with cedar and fruit cake. A lush, concentrated, sweet ripe palate layered with great texture and fruit flavours; intense and complex. Excellent depth and structure, fine-grained tannins and a very long finish.

  8. 2009 Homage Syrah, Trinity Hill

"A marvellously fragrant wine suggesting blackberry, licorice, anise and violets. The intense, long palate marries opulence and fineness to perfection. This just might be NZ’s most intense Syrah / Viognier. It’s a huge wine with a velvet texture and masses of ripe plum and dark berry fruit flavours that are more than a match for the wine’s solidly oaky overcoat.”
Bob Campbell, Gourmet Traveller Wine, August / September 2006

  9. 2006 El Nogal, Pago de los Capellanes

A serious, multi-faceted wine with a long life ahead. Floral aromas and fresh black fruit fills the nose followed by a complex palate of vanilla, cocoa, toasted coffee and new leather displaying a fine balance of oak and fruit. Superb length with lasting notes of spice, tobacco, sandalwood and liquorice.

  10. 2009 Appassito Rosso Veneto
