Ginger beer update number 1

Ben on Monday 25 January

Our man on the allotment, Daniel, files this latest news of his bubbling ginger beer…

“Racked the almost dry fiery alcoholic ginger off the gross lees last night, it’s starting to clear into a lemony coloured liquid and smells pungent and exotic! The palate still has a kick like a mule and a little effervescence showing that it’s still turning sugar into alcohol – maybe another week or so and another racking and I can decide whether to re-ferment in bottle (Champagne style) for a sparkling summer drink, or sweeten [maybe with some honey?] and enjoy over the imminent 6 Nations… might help to cushion the blow as a long suffering England supporter.”
