In 2003, brothers Alain Chavy and Jean-Louis Chavy split their family estate (Domaine Gérard Chavy) down the middle, with each brother receiving 6.5 hectares of prime Puligny-Montrachet vineyard. Alain has subsequently proved himself a very talented winemaker, producing elegant and very stylish Puligny-Montrachets in a cellar beneath his property in the centre of the village of Puligny.
