Henri Boillot is widely considered to be one of the handful of superstar winemakers of Burgundy. This enigmatic, well travelled and sometimes outspoken man is perhaps the antithesis of the traditional Burgundian winemaker and as such has caused more than a slight stir in the village of Volnay where his domaine is based. However, the biggest stir has been caused by the sheer quality of wine he produces. His monopole Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère consistently produces some of the very best white Burgundy we have tasted, while his Premier Cru Beaunes and Volnays are truly sublime with silky tannins and fine balance.
