Shawsgate

Suffolk ()

Shawsgate is the leading Suffolk winery, first planted in 1973 near Framlingham with mostly white varieties. With six hectares of vineyards now planted and a modern winemaking facility, including plenty of stainless steel and a temperature-regulated cellar, Shawsgate also make wine for several other Suffolk vineyards and have become something of a winemaking hub in this area. Tom Jarret has been at the helm since 2000 when Shawsgate was purchased by the Jarret Group; working alongside the respected winemaker Rob Capp, Shawsgate have won multiple regional and national awards. The vineyards enjoy some of the warmest and driest seasonal weather in England, although wind can be a problem especially this close to the coast, and so the vineyards are protected with high wind-breaks.
