Few illustrate the influence of ‘terroir’ more effectively than Alain Cailbourdin. This is achieved through a policy of short pruning, low yields, gentle pressing and controlled fermentations using indigenous yeasts which results in wines of concentration, purity and intensity. The Cuvée du Boisfleury, from chalk vineyards with sand topsoil, is the most aromatic and immediate of his wines. ‘Tryptique’ is marvellous: made in 50% oak from 70-year-old vines, it balances Loire freshness with complexity.

Aromas are very expressive from the very first year and are essentially fruity citrus (grapefruit), passion fruit, as well as floral (rose petals and white flowers).
Light, elegant soft fruit nose. Fine citrus and herbaceous notes. Pure acidity holds the wine together very well and the finish is precise and long. An incredible clean, fresh and impressively well balanced Pouilly Fume.
