Carmel
Website : www.carmelwines.co.il/enCarmel Winery was founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild, owner of Chateau Lâfite. The main winery is situated at Zichron Ya’acov, on the slopes of Mt. Carmel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Carmel remains Israel’s largest winery, with vineyards all over the country, but is particularly well represented in the cooler climate, higher altitude Upper Galilee. Wines range from the flagship wine, Carmel Limited Edition, which received 91 points from Robert Parker, to the easy-drinking Carmel Ridge wines. The winemaker is Lior Lacser, who studied in Beaune and worked in Burgundy and Bordeaux before joining Carmel. Carmel’s Kayoumi Vineyard Shiraz won The International Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Carmel wines are Kosher, and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
