Franck Massard

Website :

As well as working with Christophe, Franck has a few projects of his own, of which one is El Mago Organic Garnacha. The combination of Franck’s early experiences as a sommelier (best sommelier in the UK 1996) and 8 years in the trade based in Spain, spawned his passion for winemaking. He makes wines from vines at high altitude in marginal climates and his obsession with quality and letting nature run its course is amply evidenced. El Mago Organic Garnacha comes from some of the higher vineyards in Terra Alta DO, it is delicate and restrained with a soft, fruit forward balance.

Other wines by this producer

  1. 2010 El Brindis DO Montsant, Massard

El Brindis is packed with red and black fruit, displaying herbal scents of thyme and eucalyptus and some toasty spice. There’s a certain Mediterranean generosity and concentration of fruit combined with elegant restraint of this great high altitude terroir.

  2. 2012 Humilitat DOQ Priorat, Epicure

Humilitat is born to reflect the essence of the Priorat with no oak artifice and a gentle extraction. We still perceive the garrigue and dark mulberry fruit typical of the area, yet the texture is delicate the tannins soft and the finish lingering.

  3. 2011 Licis, Franck Massard

    2011 Licis, Franck Massard

Licis is the name of a single plot where the grapes are grown and harvested to make this elegant red wine. This wine offers straightforward fruit; raspberry, cherry, violets, lavender and dry roses. An extremely well-balanced wine which displays fresh and intense aromas with soft tannins.

  4. 2013 El Mago Organic Garnacha, Franck Massard

This moderately ruby/purple-hued wine exhibits complex aromas of liquorice, roasted herbs, sweet cassis and cherries, smoked meat, and spices. A light style of Garnacha offering an elegant, surprisingly silky and vibrant wine.
