Domaine François Mikulskiwww.domainemikulski.fr
Unlike the vast majority of Burgundy’s small-estate proprietors, François Mikulski neither came from a winemaking family, nor did he inherit any vineyards. He feels that in many ways this has been an advantage, in that he hasn’t been held back from doing the best he possibly can by entrenched family attitudes. Having gained experience and learned English in California, he founded Domaine Mikulski in 1992. While he admires American technical expertise – and has applied it to his winemaking – he is a strong advocate of Burgundy’s unique terroir. He is now recognised as one of Meursault’s superstars, and his wines express a tension between explosive aromatics, sumptuous textures and crackling minerality.

An outstanding Meursault with a deep straw colour, an amazingly complex nose of gun smoke and flint and toasted nuts. The palate is wonderfully rich and complex with elements of cream toasted nuts and more flint and smoke. The finish is wonderfully, long complex and impressive.
Concentrated, ripe and intriguingly complex on the nose. It releases a cocktail of tropical fruits among its toasted hazelnut and fresh bready aromas. It's full bodied too, filling the mouth with bags of melon and pineapple fruit with hints of bananas all underpinned with a stylish grapefruity acidity and a sumptuously silky finish.
