Domaine des Prés Lasses

Website :

Sheltered by the foothills of the Cévennes, the final natural barrier before the Mediterranean, the Faugères vineyards are set on steep, south facing slopes, looking over the Beziers plain. It is in this beautiful area that two lifelong friends Jean Paul Ribeton and Denis Feigel began to realise their dream of making their own wine.

In 1999 they bought some old Carignan vineyard sites and a small cellar; in 2005 their holdings grew to today’s magnificent 21-hectare property. Denis’ son, Boris, has now taken over the winemaking after finishing his apprenticeships in Alsace with Humbrecht and Jean Schaetzel. Most of the vines average 30 years old, with some parcels nearing 50 years of age.

Other wines by this producer

  1. 2011 Faugeres, Domaine des Prés Lasses

Subtly spicy, with ripe red fruit aromas and flavours. Beautifully soft and generous texture with silky-fine tannins and characteristic Southern French 'garrigue' flavours - thyme, rosemary, marjoram and other wild herbs.

  2. 2010 Castel Viel, Domaine de Prés Lasses

Deep ruby in the glass with garrigue, violet, and spice notes on the nose. Elegant, clean and pure, it coats the palate with dense, fine tannins and vibrant fruit. A well-proportioned, mature, full-bodied wine, with a long spicy finish.
