Bogle Winery

Website :

It’s now nearly 50 years since father and son Chris and Warren Bogle established their first vineyard on eight hectares of land near Clarksburg in California. While the Bogle estate has since expanded to cover 14 different sites in the cooler areas of the Delta region near Sacramento, the boutique philosophy embraced from the outset still continues.

Family remains vital too – brother Ryan and sister Jody have joined Warren in the running of the company – and that extends to the friendly cellar door operation, including a relaxed green space where visitors can kick back and enjoy one of the Bogle’s delicious wines. That might include the Bogle Viognier or Petite Sirah, wines produced exclusively for Enotria and the company’s cellar door. Indeed, such is the Viognier’s popularity that production has now been increased to meet eager demand.

    2013 Viognier, Bogle Vineyards

Appetizing display of luscious aromas with fresh apricot and pear fruit tang on the palate. Balanced by the clean, floral tones of honeysuckle blooms and orange blossoms, this wine was fermented cold in stainless steel tanks to allow the varietal character to shine.

  2. 2013 Chardonnay, Bogle Vineyards

    2013 Chardonnay, Bogle Vineyards

Classic Clarksburg personality shines through in the green apple and pear notes, while a bit more tropical pineapple breezes by. The rich mouthfeel created by aging on the lees abounds mid-palate, while the finish is wrapped in creamy textures and tones from the malolactic fermentation. Spicy American oak notes of butterscotch and vanilla are the perfect balance to the freshness and acidity of this multifaceted wine.

  3. 2014 Chenin Blanc, Bogle Vineyards

Clarksburg has long been known as a remarkable place to grow Chenin Blanc. Crisp and refreshing, this wine begins with a surprising touch of fresh anise on the nose. Richer flavours of stone fruits like peaches and apricots balance the mouthfeel, while the soft and supple texture integrates the palate all the way through the honeyed finish.

  4. 2013 Merlot, Bogle Vineyards

    2013 Merlot, Bogle Vineyards

Concentrated and full-bodied, the 2009 Merlot is a study in contrasts. Subtle and silky, yet bright and intense, this deep red wine is multifaceted. Black raspberry and dark cherry greet the nose, while the brighter fruit of ripe summer plum dazzles the palate. The toast and spice of twelve months in American oak seamlessly integrate with the tannin structure of this wine, leaving a long, lingering finish.

  5. 2013 Petite Sirah, Bogle Vineyards

Full-bodied on the entry, aromas of black plum jam and toasty oak set the stage for what is to come. Vibrant boysenberries and luscious fruit are framed by serious tannins, while wisps of leather and vanilla seduce just enough. A final touch of acidity finishes the wine with a precisely balanced mouthfeel.

  6. 2013 Old Vine Zinfandel, Bogle Vineyards

This supple and mouth-filling vintage leads with juicy raspberry and ripe boysenberry fruit. Hints of spiced chocolate integrate well with fruit that is surprisingly luscious and silky on the palate, partnered with black pepper backbone that gives structure and weight. Flavours of toasted oak and pipe tobacco create further structure, allowing this wine to stand up to a variety of hearty fare.
