From the Alto Adige region, Italy, around the town of Bolzano in the foothills of the Dolomites.
Flavour:
Fuller bodied, lightly floral, with rich lime, melon and pineapple fruit.
USP:
A premium Pinot Grigio grown at altitude on the foothills of the Dolomites.
Combined:
This premium Pinot Grigio, sourced from the foothills of the Dolomites in the Alto Adige, is full bodied, lightly floral, with lime, melon and pineapple.
Vinification Note:
As little as possible and as much as is absolutely necessary is the motto of the professional winery team. Experience and intuition go hand in hand with the most up-to-date technology. Fermentation tanks lined with a refrigeration liquid jacket, and high capacity refrigeration units are used for temperature controlled fermentation in order to preserve varietal character in white wines. There is still controversy surrounding methods of "raising" the young wine and the team at Schreckbichl/Colterenzio are constantly in touch with colleagues in other wine-growing areas from France to California to New Zealand.

The cellar is equipped with the appropriate number of oak casks of various sizes depending on the grape variety for ageing or inducing malolactic fermentation in red wines.
Arguments about the pros and cons of maturing the best wines in small oak casks, "barriques" or "pièces", as they are called in Burgundy have borne exceptional fruit. Wines of international acclaim. brilliant white wines and powerful, concentrated, complex reds including cuvèes develop and mature in them for months, even years. Then the wine-maker can be compared to a musician working on his latest composition.
The search for inner harmony, for individual nuances begins in the vineyard with the vine and the grape. As nature is the decisive element it is obvious that these wines cannot be made every year. Consistent with their habitual uncompromising commitment to quality the Schreckbichl/Colterenzio team accepts this fact and such specialities are only offered when absolutely successful.
