Food Matching Note:
The wine is an ideal accompaniment of roasts meat and fish, as well as of a rich main pasta dish.
Tasting Note:
The colour is deep ruby red. On the nose the wine shows a delicate scent of berry fruits. The palate is elegant, intense with soft natural tannins (no oak). The alcohol content is distinct but not overpowering.
'Funky' Tasting Note:
Blimey what a leathery, chocolaty wine! On the nose if you work hard and let yourself go you will find aromas of compost, damson jam, crude oil and figs smeared in beef extract. In the mouth its much the same with the addition of a hint of violet petals and freeze dried strawberries. Enjoy with everything meaty.
Vinification Note:
The vineyards are located in an area known as Gioia del Colle where Benedictine monks start growing Primitivo vines in 1700.
The present training system is alberello on a fertile clay type terroir. Vines are 35/40 years old and harvest starts the 1st week of October.
