Tasting Note:
Complex red and black fruit characteristics, ripe oak and well integrated, fine grained tannin are the hallmarks of this full bodied but elegant wine.
Vinification Note:
The minimal interventionalist winemaking philosophy applied to the creation of Mount Langi Ghiran’s red wines include fermentation in open, shallow concrete tanks with manual plunging of the cap, maturation in French and American oak and light filtration only.
Mount Langi Ghiran’s finest expression of Shiraz, a benchmark for the cool climate Australian style. The 2000 harvest was picked with perfect ripeness after 10 weeks of hang time from veraison. Aged for 15 months in 38% French oak from 4 different coopers and 62% American oak. All the staves for these premium barrels were subjected to an extended air drying.
