Food Matching Note:
This wine is an excellent accompaniment to meat dishes and main meals. It should be served at a temperature of between 16 and 18 °C.
Tasting Note:
Morellino has a very intense ruby red colour with noticeable purple flecks and a fruity bouquet which is pleasantly refined and typical of this vine. On the palate it has great structure, fine fruit and good balance with fine but pronounced tannins.
Vinification Note:
The Cecchi family has always believed in the value of the Maremma for the production of important red wines and for this reason it bought an estate and began to produce this wine a few years ago. Good exposure to the sun and the area's relative vicinity to the sea provide an excellent micro-climate for the cultivation of vines, especially red grapes. The Cecchi Morellino di Scansano is produced from 90% Sangiovese mixed with other vines which are authorised in the area. Once the wine has been made in steel containers with careful temperature checks, it spends a few months in small oak casks before being bottled.
