Entirely fermented in barrel with 30% new oak, the 2010 Chardonnay has an attractive nose of beeswax, honeysuckle and apple-blossom that carries the oak well. The palate is medium-bodied with fine waxy texture, good acidity with a light, elegant, caramel-tinged finish. This is good value South African Chardonnay. Drink now-2018+

Complements grilled or smoked fish, poultry or pasta. Great with chicken cacciatore.
Tasting Note:
Fresh lime green in colour, with hints of yellow. Aromas of green fruit with nutty butterscotch notes, ripe apples and hints of toffee and spice. The flavours are refreshing, with a great balance of fruit and acidity. Full bodied with juicy apple flavours, and well integrated oak for a mouth-watering finish.
Vinification Note:
Fermentation: 95% in 225 lt French oak barrels – 30% new; 5% in American oak – all new.
Barrel ageing: 10 months in French oak from Bertranges, Alliers, Vosges and Troncais; and American White Oak
This was a warmer vintage than usual, giving a fuller style of Chardonnay. We have tried to keep the fruit driven style, to get the best balance between oak and fruit. This style will show very good longevity in the bottle.
