Food Matching Note:
Excellent as an aperitif, this lush reserve is particularly good with highly-seasoned food, notably from Asia and the Orient. It is ideal with strong cheeses, expecially Munster.
Tasting Note:
With its years of bottle age, this wine has taken on a medium gold colour in the glass and the nose shows complex development as the primary lychee fruit segues into beeswax and camomile. In the palate there are lush lemons and mouthfilling grapiness, tropical fruit and a hint of smoke.
Vinification Note:
Made only after a rigorous selection only on the best years, this luscious, spicy wine can take on great complexity in the bottle.
The Reserve range is from parcel selections of old vines (around 35 years old) in calcareous clay soils around Ribeauvillé and the result is a more complex wine destined for a longer laying down.
After harvesting, the grapes are brought directly to the winery where they are fermented in stainless steel and bottled early without malolactic fermentation.
