  1. 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Evocelles, Domaine Lucien Boillot

The bouquet exudes oak and charm. Rich and mouthfilling with great persistence. The fullness hides the steely core at first. Approachable young but worth keeping.

  2. 2011 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles, Alain Michelot

Beautiful dark red colour; aromas of blackcurrants; small black fresh fruits and spice on the palate with an elegant and rounded mouthfeel and a long, balanced finish.

  3. 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Charlopin

Deep ruby. Wild cherries and kirsch on the nose. Palate firm without austerity. Tannins textured and layered. Bright red cherry acidity and a hint of iodine lift the finish and lead on to the next glass.

  4. 2011 Aloxe-Corton Les Caillettes, Domaine Henri Delagrange

For Pinot Noir, a quite dark, deep ruby. When young, the aromas evoke the garden in spring, red fruits (raspberry, strawberry, cherry) and black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry). These flavours become more intense with age: peony and jasmine, jam and fruit in eau de-vie, pistachio, prunes, leather, truffles, mushrooms, cinnamon. It is a generous, opulent wine with distinguished tannins.

  5. 2012 Laforêt Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Joseph Drouhin

Light ruby coloured with mouthwatering wild raspberry brightness and intensity of flavour. Palate is light, but at the same time rounded with the merest hint of oak and long, elegant, silky tannin structure.

  6. 2008 Volnay 1er Cru, Domaine Régis Rossignol Changarnier

Savoury but with intense fruit that opens up with aeration. Slight element of mineral/gritty character displayed by the village level Volnay. Greater intensity of fruit, which persists excellently on the palate, and balanced, fine-grained tannin. Smokey/savoury character on finish. Superb.

  7. 2012 Chorey-Les-Beaune, Domaine Maillard Père et Fils

Aromas of morello cherry and raspberry with complex earthy elements, mouthfilling on the palate with a good concentration of red berry fruits, a lick of smooth woody vanilla and a lovely supple, textured middle supported by very fine tannins. Elegant and complex despite its concentration with a well balanced and defined finish.

  8. 2012 Beaujolais Villages Château des Alouettes, Jean Tête

Typically gentle purple colour of the Gamay grape. Soft and juicy ripe damson type fruits with a crisp acidity. A style for early consumption that mixes elegance and softness with bold ripe flavours.

  9. 2011 Beaune 1er Cru Les Chouacheux, Domaine Chantal Lescure

Light and bright with medium weight, ripe tannins and ripe red berry fruit, spice and pepper.

  10. 2010 Gevrey Chambertin En Jouise, Domaine Harmand Geoffroy

The nose at present is fairly typical earthy Burgundian Pinot. It's on the palate, however that the wine's class really shows. Superb richness, freshness and juiciness of fruit. Soft-textured, with great persistence of flavour. Yum! Benefits from decanting.
