  1. Wild Pixie Shiraz 11 d'Arenberg 6/75

Do not be mislead by the name, this wine is far from Pixie-ish. On the contrary it is a dark, concentrated and structured beast that needs more than one look to understand its true value. Initially it appears savoury and spicy with a whiff of funkiness (perhaps "wild" is somewhat appropriate), think fennel, black olive, bitter chocolate and earth. Given a moment to relax in the glass, we are struck by the nuances of sweeter fruit, plums, blackberries and mulberries that build. Layer upon layer of flavour carried along by a wave of mouth watering tannin that draws you in for another look.

  2. Jacques Veritier Rouge 14 6/75

Deep garnet in colour with a spicy nose. The palate is rich with ripe fruit character and a hint of peppery spice. The finish is well balanced and the tannins are soft and elegant.

  3. Syrah 14 La Garenne 6/75

    Syrah 14 La Garenne 6/75

    (6x75cl)

This deeply coloured Syrah has attractive cherry and pepper flavours which are offset by the wine's meaty and bitter chocolate aromas. Fullish palate with a great length, well-balanced and keen structure throughout.

  4. Cab Sauv Res. 14 de Gras 6/75

Deep garnet in colour with hints of purple, has a classic nose of cassis and ripe berry fruit, with hints of spice. On the palate it is full bodied, with a fine structure of ripe tannin and complex concentrated fruit.

  5. CNDP Piedlong 11 La Roquete 6/75

This exquisite Grenache-dominant Châteauneuf-du-Pape is sourced from the Plateau du Piedlong, one of the highest points of this world famous appellation. The 70 year old vines produce a spicy red which has aromas of raspberry, cherry, white pepper and dried violet. The full bodied palate asserts itself with flavours of dark cherry and bitter chocolate that align themselves with hints of blueberry, lavender and porcini. The fine balance of tannin, acidity and concentrated fruits mean this wine will keep on evolving in the glass and in the bottle.

  6. Beaujolais Tradition V V 14 Vissoux 6/75

Youthfully light cherry in colour, offering red stone fruit on the nose. The fruit is very stylishly extracted, generous, ripe and not shackled by too much tannin. The acidity is an integral part of the palate, keeping those cherry fruits juicy!

  7. Chateau d'Arsac 12 Margaux 6/75

Intense garnet-red in colour with a toasty, smoky nose, opening up to reveal a generous bouquet of red fruits. Silky and seductive palate, structured but rounded, with a concentrated middle and a flourish of vanilla and blackcurrant on the finish.

  8. Pago Garduna Syrah 11 Abadia Retuer 6/75

Abadia Retuerta’s 2011 Syrah is a single vineyard wine from their low yielding vines in Sardon de Duero. The wine has an intense dark purple hue and a peppery nose with hints of warm beetroot, freshly turned earth and forest fruits. The full bodied palate has aromatic notes of violet and smoke that accompany the concentrated fruit flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum. The silky tannins provide an excellent balance to the intense, creamy textures of this seductive wine.

  9. Pago Valdebellon Cab 11 Abadia Ret 6/75

This exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a limestone-rich single vineyard plot blessed with its own microclimate. The powerful nose highlights notes of balsamic and wild aromatic herbs, along with spicy black pepper and clove. The full bodied palate opens with juicy blackcurrant and a hint of zesty orange peel, giving way to fresh bay and warming oak on the long, voluptuous finish. After 19 months ageing in new French oak barrels, the wine is ready to reveal its charms, but can be left in the bottle to age for a further five years

  10. Pago Negralada Tempr 11 Abadia Ret 6/75

Pago Negralada is a single vineyard Tempranillo from Abadía Retuerta’s vineyards in Sardon de Duero. The deep gravel soils here produce wines with a distinctive firm, tannic character that balances beautifully with the layers of ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruit. The wine spends 19 months in new French oak barrels, marrying the complex flavours of wild red fruits, liquorice, herbs and minerals. 2011 was one of Abadía Retuerta’s best ever vintages, delivering a style of wine that can be drunk with pleasure right now or left to refine further over the next few years.
