    Deep intense red in colour. Initial aromas of black fruit, spice and liquorice, giving way to sweet, red fruit with toasted sensations. In the mouth, sweet fruit attacks on the mid-palate with fruit, and roasted, toasty flavours with a side portion of spice. Long and intense finish.

    Mencia is native to this rather rugged part of the world and the wines often have a certain rusticity about them. The Alma de Tinto is bright and brambly with bags of fresh fruit alongside hints of developed, dried fruit nuances.

    Humilitat is born to reflect the essence of the Priorat with no oak artifice and a gentle extraction. We still perceive the garrigue and dark mulberry fruit typical of the area, yet the texture is delicate the tannins soft and the finish lingering.

    Pale purple colour with sweet jam aromas. Soft and smooth on the palate with a long and clean finish.

    A dark cherry colour with good depth. Balsamic aromas with hints of ripe fruit, complex and spicy. The attack is fresh and light, with soft, rounded tannins. The finish proves persistent with some reminders of toasted oak. Its passage through the mouth is pleasant and elegant, fresh and easy to drink.

  6. 2011 Crianza, Pago de los Capellanes

    The nose is intense with a pleasant balance of wood and fruit which notes of vanilla, ripened cherries and plums. Secondary aromas of leather and liquorice are also present. The texture in the mouth is smooth with balanced flavours echoing the nose. The tannins are fine and the finish is long and elegant. This wine will keep for some time.

  7. 2011 Pago Garduña Syrah, Abadia Retuerta

    Abadia Retuerta’s 2011 Syrah is a single vineyard wine from their low yielding vines in Sardon de Duero. The wine has an intense dark purple hue and a peppery nose with hints of warm beetroot, freshly turned earth and forest fruits. The full bodied palate has aromatic notes of violet and smoke that accompany the concentrated fruit flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum. The silky tannins provide an excellent balance to the intense, creamy textures of this seductive wine.

  8. 2011 Pago Negralada Tempranillo, Abadia Retuerta

    Pago Negralada is a single vineyard Tempranillo from Abadía Retuerta’s vineyards in Sardon de Duero. The deep gravel soils here produce wines with a distinctive firm, tannic character that balances beautifully with the layers of ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruit. The wine spends 19 months in new French oak barrels, marrying the complex flavours of wild red fruits, liquorice, herbs and minerals. 2011 was one of Abadía Retuerta’s best ever vintages, delivering a style of wine that can be drunk with pleasure right now or left to refine further over the next few years.

    Clean, intense red ripe fruits with a touch of vanilla and spices from oak ageing. Fruity, matured and elegant with a clean finish.
