  1. 2012 La Garenne Syrah, IGP Pays d'Oc

This deeply coloured Syrah has attractive cherry and pepper flavours which are offset by the wine's meaty and bitter chocolate aromas. Fullish palate with a great length, well-balanced and keen structure throughout.

  2. 2009 Ninquén Estate, Ninquén

A deep ruby red colour, with aromas of black cherries and ripe black berries surrounded by elegant and integrated toasty oak. Deep, complex and rich flavours, with layers of black cherries and ripe currants, and firm tannins which give this wine structure, muscles and a long finish.

  3. 2010 Syrah Reserva, Vina Falernia

Very bright colour; elegant nose with black pepper and floral notes. Medium-full bodied with very soft tannins and good balance. Great length and fruity after taste.

  4. 2011 Gimblett Gravels Syrah, Trinity Hill

The colour is a deep, vibrant crimson. Blackberry, black pepper, savoury and spice elements are prominent. Multi-layered complexity is the aim. Powerful but ripe and round tannins give the wine great structure. Oak aging plays a minor part and the wine lives on its fruit. Combined with good acidity, mineral, earthy and tarry characters result in a wine that is distinctly Northern Rhone-like rather than resembling any thing Australian.

  5. 2012 Cuvée Montauliers, Minervois

Intense ruby red in the glass, vibrant, spicy aromas of crunchy redcurrant and bramble. In the mouth it has a wild freshness, with balancing acidity and ripe tannin.

  6. Bright ruby with complex hints of red berries, spice, coconut and vanilla. Well-integrated tannins with sun-drenched fruit and echoes of the "garrigue".

  7. Dark ruby with raspberry, strawberry, blackcurrant and some flinty minerality. Fresh, round and smooth on the palate with integrated tannins and a long, spicy finish.

  8. Black pepper and Parma violets on a medium-weight body with vibrant acidity and light tannins. Classic Northern Rhone.

  9. Dark ruby with very densely furled aromas of blueberry, violets, a hint of bacon and wet gravel. Cornas power and complexity on the palate with extremely well-knit elegance for one so young (as Guy says "it's not an old war horse"). Layers of very fine tannins show pedigree, but also extreme drinkability. Long

  10. Dark ruby with minerally aromatics: stone, chalk and gun flint in a subtle interplay with pepper, tapenade and dense brambly fruit. Lovely mouthwatering acidity, smooth layers of fine tannins, medium body and long finish.
