  1. 2005 Shiraz, Tappa Pass, Henschke

    Very deep crimson in colour. The nose is concentrated and complex, with sweet lifted ripe aromas of spicy blackberries, blueberries and prunes, with hints of chocolate, anise and tar. The palate is sweet, ripe and lush, concentrated and complex, with intense blackberry fruits, plum, anise, cedar and tar. The texture is fleshy with silky layered tannins, excellent balance and great length.

    Almost opaque, the wine has an exceptional nose of spice, fruits and new oak. The palate is complex and refined with great integration between fruit, oak and tannin.

  3. 2010 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, Domaine Laurent Roumier

    Big, roasted nose combines ripe cherry, chocolate, liquorice, mint and spicy oak. Large-scaled, fat, rich and sweet, with a mouth filling texture. Low in acidity but seemed to grow fresher with air. Finishes rather suave, with considerable chocolaty oak and very good aromatic persistence.

    Bright and deep in colour. This wine shows rich fruit concentration; on the nose black pepper, red fruit, dark chocolate. Great body with soft tannins on the palate.

  5. 2009 Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido

    Intense ruby, complex bouquet with highly elegant red fruits. Powerful and concentrated on the palate with sweet balanced tannins and a very long, fine, finish. This will age very well.

  6. 2011 Châteauneuf Reserve des Oliviers, Maison Favier

    The grenache character predominates on the nose with plenty of raspberry fruit. A succulent attack is balanced by fine tannins and good acidity. The finish is marked by spice and blackcurrant.

    Mencia is native to this rather rugged part of the world and the wines often have a certain rusticity about them. The Alma de Tinto is bright and brambly with bags of fresh fruit alongside hints of developed, dried fruit nuances.

    Deep ruby colour with aromas of currants and candied peel. Powerful, but well integrated, tannins, fresh minerality and lively Assam and redcurrant notes. Clean and modern.

    Rich and intensely red in the glass with a generously aromatic, ripe nose loaded with blackberry and plum fruit. An attractive balance of fleshy fruit and oak on the palate with notes of mint, rounded velvety tannins that soften its firm structure and dry finish.

  10. 2010 Trispol organic, Mesquida Mora

    A complex, elegant and structured red, the nose is full of matured forest fruit, violets and liquorice with a backdrop of tobacco, praline and vanilla. The mouth is soft, velvety and seductive with a long and structured finish.
