In the palate there is an amazingly complex balance of many different factors - fresh acidity and off-dry sweetness - slate driven mineral texture and low alcohol - fresh fruit and a deep oily complexity. Poise and depth.

  6. 2013 Riesling Urstück Trocken, Paulinshof

Light gold colour with hints of green. Spicy aromas of orange peel and bergamot. Dry on the palate with expressive seam of minerality, herbs, gooseberries and rhubarb leading to a long finish.

  7. 2013 The Stump Jump White Blend, d'Arenberg

Riesling gives the finesse and class to this wine, Sauvignon blanc adds loads of aromatics, and the Marsanne and Roussanne provide complexity, weight and nuttiness to the palate.
The resulting wine is an exotic mix of citrus, stone fruits, passionfruit, guava and tinned pineapple which develops into a long savoury, nutty like finish.
The mouthfeel is rich and luscious without being overly oily, kept in check by a fine line of mineral acidity.

  8. 2012 Sutherland Riesling, Thelema

Off-dry. Fragrant, pungent orange blossom and lime character that is sweetish on the palate, and has a long finish. Will reward cellaring.

  9. 2012 Forster Ungeheuer Riesling Auslese, Reichsrat Von Buhl

Complex wine with stone fruit and ripe citric notes. Lots of sweetness and lots of lime fruit that rushes around the mouth. Layers of flavour, citrus, tropical melon and blossom. Fine balance with a poised palate, sweet yet with a creamy and waxy concentration.
