    A black-cherry coloured wine with slight violet hues. High aromatic intensity, with aromas of ripe dark fruit, fine smoked notes with toasted aromas coming through. On the palate it is meaty and crisp, with a presence of well-polished tannins. Moderate acidity, with a long, pleasant finish in which the oak can be detected more distinctly.

The wine has an intense dark purple hue and a peppery nose with hints of warm beetroot, freshly turned earth and forest fruits. The full bodied palate has aromatic notes of violet and smoke that accompany the concentrated fruit flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum. The silky tannins provide an excellent balance to the intense, creamy textures of this seductive wine.

The wine spends 19 months in new French oak barrels, marrying the complex flavours of wild red fruits, liquorice, herbs and minerals. 2011 was one of Abadía Retuerta’s best ever vintages, delivering a style of wine that can be drunk with pleasure right now or left to refine further over the next few years.

The full bodied, creamy palate is structured by smooth tannins, juicy ripe fruits and a hint of cedar. 2011 was one of Abadía Retuerta’s best ever vintages, delivering a style of wine that can be drunk with pleasure right now or left to develop further complexities over the next few years.

On the nose there is an intense bouquet of honey, preserved peaches, ginger and white flowers, alongside subtle notes of mint and embers. The palate opens softly, with exotic citrus, grapefruit and apple, merging with hints of freshly cut hay and aniseed.
