  1. 2004 El Picon, Pago de los Capellanes

A deep, dark cherry-coloured with extraordinary intensity and complexity. Blackberries and floral notes are detected first on the nose. The fruit is well-integrated with the wood, displaying spicy aromas from the French oak; cinnamon, leather, tobacco, truffle and black liquorice. Sweet, smooth tannins coat the palate and the mouth is full-bodied and persistant with an array of complex flavours.

  2. 2007 Yatir Cabernet Shiraz Merlot

An oak-aged, full-bodied, fruity and spicy wine with complex aromas of ripe plums, cherries, blackberries, cinnamon, chocolate and coffee.

  3. 2008 Reserva, Pago de los Capellanes

The nose has a fine complexity with tones of ripened fruit such as cherry, cassis and plum all harmonised by the wood and spice character (vanilla and cocoa) with undercurrents of liquorice. The palate displays great balance with glossy, mature tannins and elegant fruit character that echoes the nose. The finish is long and elegant.

  4. 2006 First Growth, Parker Estate

Deep in colour with a purple hue. The nose is fine and lifted with intense pure cassis aromas, liquorice and nuances of fine smoky French oak. The palate is intense and deep with layered rich cassis, blackberry fruit and mineral overtones. An elegant structure is complemented by good acidity and balance, the finish is long and lingering with fine tannins.

  5. 2008 Morgenster Estate Red, Morgenster

Dark plum, concentrated centre and opaque to the edges. Enticing with almonds, coffee and sweet caramel, and alluring sniffs of cassis and vanilla pods. Great freshness with hits of blackberry sweetness. Elegant entry, very plush and immediately filling. Sweeter dark berry fruit very evident, which contributes well to balancing the minerality which adds a lot of weight.

  6. 2009 Magno Megonio IGT, Librandi

Ruby red colour with a persistent, particularly intense bouquet. The palate is well structured, offering an array of rich berry, cassis and spicey flavours alongside its textured, well integrated tannins which encourage the lengthy finish with a good grip.

  7. 2007 Synchronicity, Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Pinotage, Martin Meinert

A big rich wine from South Africa that emanates wild berry and sweet plum aromas. Silky, velvety texture and elegance in the mouth that counterpoints its power.

    2009 Appassito Rosso Veneto

    (6x75cl)

Bright garnet red in colour; intense and lingering bouquet with notes of spice and dried fruit. Enveloping, dry flavours, with a moderately robust body and balanced structure.

  9. 2009 Homage Syrah, Trinity Hill

"A marvellously fragrant wine suggesting blackberry, licorice, anise and violets. The intense, long palate marries opulence and fineness to perfection. This just might be NZ’s most intense Syrah / Viognier. It’s a huge wine with a velvet texture and masses of ripe plum and dark berry fruit flavours that are more than a match for the wine’s solidly oaky overcoat.”
Bob Campbell, Gourmet Traveller Wine, August / September 2006

  10. 2007 Castel Viel, Domaine de Prés Lasses

Deep ruby in the glass with garrigue, violet, and spice notes on the nose. Elegant, clean and pure, it coats the palate with dense, fine tannins and vibrant fruit. A well-proportioned, mature, full-bodied wine, with a long spicy finish.
