  1. d'Arry's Orig Sh Gren 11 d'Arenberg 6/75

This wine displays a level of finesse and freshness that we don’t always encounter in other vintages of the same wine. In a somewhat surprising contrast to this, the wine also displays a dense and varied array of fruit characters, from bright lifted purple plums and rhubarb through to more spice and herbal notes such as sage and cardamom, into even more complex earthy flavours of beetroot and soot.
These flavours are perfectly supported by a frame of fine, minerally tannins that add a subtle grip and enticingly long finish.

  2. Custodian Grenache 11 d'Arenberg 6/75

The 2011 Custodian is a jewel of a wine that is perfectly balanced and harmonious. The first look suggests an enticing simplicity displaying primary fruit characters of mulberry, blueberry and plum. Deeper inspection however starts to reveal more complex layers, conjuring images of aniseed, fennel and coriander seed.
The palate is warm and juicy. The sweet and savoury fruits are laced by fine silken tannins which lead to a super persistent finish, again displaying a delightful fruitiness, accompanied by more savoury, cedary, baking spice like notes. Simply put, this wine is liquid velvet.

  3. Feral Fox PN 11 d'Arenberg 6/75

Earthy tones of wild mushroom and truffles are wonderfully countered with lovely, fresh, aromatic notes of musk and flowers, raspberry and kirsch. The palate is fine and balanced, driven forward by a lively line of vibrant acid and ending with that familiar d’Arenberg fine, gritty tannin.

  4. Laughing Magpie 10 d'Arenberg 6/75

2010 is touted by many as an absolute classic McLaren Vale vintage for Shiraz. The wine has an enticing mix of primary fruit characters entwined with the first hints of moreish secondary nuances. There is an enormous concentration of blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose and palate, a whiff of flowers, ginger and stone fruit that we can attribute to the Viognier and depth is built through more savoury notes of fennel, fresh leather and cedar.

  5. Coppermine Rd Cab 09 d'Arenberg 6/75

The nose exhibits classic Cabernet aromatics of black currant leaf, violets and cigar box with an interesting twist of cooking spice and mustard seed.
These lovely savoury notes are followed through onto the palate but swept along by an underlying sweet blackcurrant and mulberry fruitiness that builds as the wine continues to evolve in your glass.
The initially cedary tannins, start early and give the wine an incredible line.
An intriguing fennel note accompanies the chalky tannins that are picked up on the finish, which is long and lingering.

  6. Stump Jump Riesling 13 d'Arenberg 6/75

Lovely aromatic wine, fully ripened with
    extraordinary natural acidities were the
norm. The Stump Jump Riesling is loaded
with notes of frangipani and citrus. The
palate also displays white floral notes,
    combining nicely with ruby grapefruit
    and fresh lime characters.

  7. Twenty Eight Road Mou 10 d'Arenberg 6/75

A combination of blood orange, redcurrant, iodine, oregano and rosewater give the wine strong aromatics and exotic flavours.
As it develops we will see even more layers of complexity in the form of game, cured meats and new leather.
The palate is pleasantly medium bodied, displaying a beautiful restraint that allows all of these flavours to share the spotlight.
    The tannins are slightly cedary.

  8. Dead Arm Shiraz 09 d'Arenberg 6/75

Dark fruit and savoury characters leap from the glass, in particular there is liquorice and blackberry, laced with a hint of char.
Complexity in the shape of iodine and soil like notes follow. The wine is powerful and structured.
There is a plethora of sweet fruit character, plums and mulberries, but not a hint of fatness. Rather the wine is quite compact and focused.
A powerful yet refined expression of Shiraz with balance, complexity and persistence.

  9. Love Grass Shiraz 10 d'Arenberg 6/75

The wine displays a mix of fruit and spice, a result of the myriad of minor varieties that cling to the bones of the Shiraz and draw it in all sorts of different directions.
Fresh and lively, black and red fruits, pepper, clove and cinnamon.
The palate, whilst showing the poise and focus common amongst the 2011’s, develops its richness in the glass.
Ensure you take a moment to savour this wine and watch its complex mix of fruits evolve from tight and linear at first to rich, dark and exotic.

  10. Footbolt Shiraz 11 d'Arenberg 6/75

The nose is incredibly lifted and fragrant, red fruits and peppery spices feature strongly. As the wine breathes we are struck by a raft of darker and more earthy aromas such as mulberry, black plum, soot and baking spice.
The palate is pleasantly bright with lively acidity and elegant fruit weight. A generous dose of mineral fruit tannin ensures the wine is structured and wonderfully long.
As this wine ages it will develop more generosity and complexity through the mid palate, but the acid and tannin structure will ensure it stays lively and long.
