    A combination of blood orange, redcurrant, iodine, oregano and rosewater give the wine strong aromatics and exotic flavours.
    As it develops we will see even more layers of complexity in the form of game, cured meats and new leather.
    The palate is pleasantly medium bodied, displaying a beautiful restraint that allows all of these flavours to share the spotlight.
    The tannins are slightly cedary.

    The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant ruby in colour. Wonderfully fragrant, with a lifted nose of black cherries, mulberries and plums, complemented by spicy oak characters of tobacco and vanilla. The palate displays plummy, blackcurrant jam notes with a hint of mocha.
    A rich, textural wine, with savoury, fine-grain tannins and fresh acidity.

    2013 Croft Chardonnay, Henschke


    Bright gold-green in colour. Sweet, lifted ripe and complex with pear drop, peach, clove, spice, cashew nut and hints of grapefruit and lemon. A rich full complex concentrated and intense palate with layers of flavours, mineral and apricot kernel, good acidity and texture with excellent depth and length.

    Crimson ruby in colour. Lifted aromas of sweet ripe raspberry, rhubarb and wild black cherry, with spicy sappy hints and cassis. Ripe sweet fruit flavours on the palate with a rich supple velvety texture, excellent depth, length and silky tannins.

  7. 2006 The Dead Arm Shiraz, d'Arenberg

    Dark fruit and savoury characters leap from the glass, in particular there is liquorice and blackberry, laced with a hint of char.
    Complexity in the shape of iodine and soil like notes follow. The wine is powerful and structured.
    There is a plethora of sweet fruit character, plums and mulberries, but not a hint of fatness. Rather the wine is quite compact and focused.
    A powerful yet refined expression of Shiraz with balance, complexity and persistence.

  8. 2009 The Sticks and Stones Tempranillo Blend, d'Arenberg

    To taste this exotic mix of Iberian varieties is to embark upon a tantalizing journey of the senses. The nose exhibits an enticing mix of red, black and purple fruits such as plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry truffle. There is another layer of secondary aromas though, that makes this a seriously complex wine, mushrooms, autumn leaves and earth.
    A similar theme is found on the palate with flavours of red licorice, spice and peat all evident. The hallmark of this vintage though is a rhubarb, ironstone-like note that adds an incredible core of mineral tannins and bright acidity. The wine is both lively and complex at the same time.

  9. 2010 The Laughing Magpie, d'Arenberg

    2010 is touted by many as an absolute classic McLaren Vale vintage for Shiraz. The wine has an enticing mix of primary fruit characters entwined with the first hints of moreish secondary nuances. There is an enormous concentration of blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose and palate, a whiff of flowers, ginger and stone fruit that we can attribute to the Viognier and depth is built through more savoury notes of fennel, fresh leather and cedar.

  10. 2013 Dolcetto Lagrein, Heartland

    Deep, glass-coating ruby in colour. Blackberries and wild herbs with smoked meats and spice on the nose. In the mouth, earthy flavours and fresh acidity from the Lagrein mingle with sweet, red cherry and spice of the Dolcetto.
