  1. 2011 Sutherland Viognier Roussanne, Thelema

    Sun-dried apricot, marzipan and rose petal aromas, with rosemary undertones. This wine is big with some prominent leesy, toasty notes among the fruit. The finish is clean, fresh and minerally and very long.

    The Viognier is clearly evident on the nose with notes of apricot nectar, ginger, yellow peach blossom and dried citrus peel. Further investigation reveals some lovely florals, spice and a hint of nut characters from the Roussanne. The palate is thick, luscious and powerful. It's full-on botrytis with enormous fruit, spice and floral lift. It's surprisingly complex with dried peach, ripe grapefruit and a hint of rose water adding to the palate. This wine is spectacularly luscious and flavor packed. It will be a fun match to a range of desserts and cheeses at the end of a meal.

    Pure golden hue. Enticing white flowers, peach and citrus fruits on the nose. Equilibrium between mellowness and liveliness on the palate which leads into a long finish with classy oak notes.

    Pineapple and hay aromas with some by floral and herbaceous nuances. Juicy, light and fresh; a wine of modest size and depth, but one with good mineral spine and liveliness.

    A vibrant, luminous colour with green hues. On the nose, peach, apricot and almond aromas prevail with a refreshing yet fruity palate with a smooth and round finish.

    Appetizing display of luscious aromas with fresh apricot and pear fruit tang on the palate. A third of this wine spent 10 months in brand new American oak, barrel fermented and left on its lees. The rest of the blend was fermented in stainless steel tanks

  8. 2012 The Hermit Crab Viognier/Marsanne, Originals, d'Arenberg

    The nose of this wine displays an enticing mix of white stonefruits and sweet pineapple with an underlying hint of ginger.
    The palate is luscious and flavoursome, again nectarine and peach are prominent, with a twist of candied citrus rind.
    These sweet flavours evolve through the palate into more savoury flavours reminiscent of raw almonds and spice.
    A generous, textural wine with a surprising finesse on the finish.

  9. 2011 Condrieu Les Chaillets, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Cuilleron

    Wonderfully opulent and perfumed on the nose with dollops of honey allied to blossom and spicy complexity. The palate is rich and full again with great acidity, giving the wine and exceptional balance, and we suspect longevity.

  10. 2012 Viognier Reserve, Bodegas Santa Ana

    Santa Ana Viognier Reserve has a bright golden colour with green hues. Aromas of stone fruits with an alluring complexity of toasted bread and vanilla notes. Rich and full palate with a hint of sweetness balanced by a racy acidity on the finish.
