  1. 2009 The Bonsai Vine GSM, d'Arenberg

    The nose is full of vibrant fresh fruit including plum, raspberry, currant and cranberry with varietal spice and a lovely violet overtone providing a delicate touch.
    The elegant palate adds rhubarb to the fruit spectrum with a very attractive pink muck nuance emerging on the mid palate with a second layer of earth and dried herbs providing a savoury kick. The lively acidity is linear and focused and a real feature. The tannins have good weight and build through the palate with a handsome presence on the long finish.

  2. 2008 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Harmand Geoffroy

    Concentrated nose of red and black fruit - fully ripe but without over ripeness, and with classic Burgundian herbal/gamey undertones. In the mouth, rich and concentrated, juicy and immediately very delicious. Tannin is present although velvety and in check, and there is enough acidity to provide freshness and balance.

  3. 2008 Aloxe Corton, Domaine Maillard Père et Fils

    An opulent and ripe, red wine with flavours of strawberry fruit. Wonderfully expressive and powerful in the mouth it finishes with soft silky tannins and an animal richness so typical of Pinot Noir.

  4. 2001 Pommard Les Perrières, Domaine Jean-Michel Gaunoux

    Vibrantly bright, with a touch of mahogany toward the rim. The nose is generous in its complexity with fine and elegant red berry fruits and hints of earthy spices. The palate is medium bodied, soft, juicy and lengthy showing piercing strawberry and cherry fruits layered over a carpet of mushrooms, strawberry leaf and forest floor complexity. The finish is firm, clean and lengthy.

  5. 2008 Volnay, Domaine Régis Rossignol Changarnier

    The nose is a fantastic combination of cherry and rosehip fruit with delicious gamey/spicy/nutty complexity. In the mouth it is medium-bodied and elegant with bright acidity, fine tannin and a complex finish. As befits its septuagenarian winemaker, this is a wonderful traditional Volnay.

  6. 2009 Carignano del Sulcis Riserva, Rocca Rubia, Santadi

    Rich, ripe nose, almost perfumed wine with a delicious creamy character on the palate and bags of soft ripe blackcurrant fruit. The acidity is all there, balanced against soft, full tannins and there is great structure and mouthfeel. Succulent, round and complex.

  7. 2004 Château Haut Bernat, Puisseguin St Emilion

    Merlot dominated, soft, yet structured claret from the 'right banks'. The wine has ripe tannins and excellent fruit concentration, yet elegant.

  8. 2007 Rioja Reserva, Vina Cerrada

    This wine is cherry red with brick red tones. There are intense, spicy, ripe cherry and plum aromas merged with notes of tobacco, toffee, vanilla and wood. On the palate, the body is full and fleshy with excellent balance.

  9. 2009 Humilitat Priorat, Massard

    A dark red ruby colour with vibrant purple tinges. Savoury nose mingled with violet and freshly gathered red berries, supported by a light touch of wood. Finely textured tannins, a seamless structure, certain minerality (graphite) interacting with the vivid fruit and a long silky finish.

  10. 2007 Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers, Dom. Fernand Lecheneaut

    Wonderfully ripe and packed with generous aromas of redcurrants, spicy blackberries and touches of flinty mineral notes. The palate is intense and concentrated but showing a beguiling balance between structure, fruit and new oak. Firm, lengthy finish, superb for food pairing.
