  1. 2013 Lanya Cabernet Sauvignon, Viña Maola

A fantastic value for money Cab to complement the existing Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot. The wine displays classic blackcurrant leaf aromas with ripe blackberry flavours, a hint of liquorice and blueberry fruit.

  2. 2011 La Chapelle d'Escurac, Château d'Escurac

Ripe Bordeaux aromas of blackberry and touch of oak lift out of the glass. Mid weight tannins and grip give roundness and balance to the wine.

  3. 2008 The Galvo Garage Cabernet Blend, d'Arenberg

The nose is lifted, fragrant and inviting, cassis and blueberry are evident without being dominant. This allows the tomato vine, herb and leafy earthiness to play an equal part of what is a complex aroma.
The palate is savoury, spicy and elegant. It’s deep and dark with rhubarb adding to the fruit spectrum and sitting alongside a subtle violet nuance and savoury elements of dark chocolate and dried herbs. There is no explosion of fruit, but rather an elegant and gradual building of complexity with persistent mineral, chalky tannins providing authoritative, balanced structure.

  4. 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, De Gras

Brilliant red with hints of bay leaf, herbs and spicy blackcurrants on the nose, typically Chilean in style. The palate offers blackcurrant, cassis and blackberry, soft tannins with lingering spicy fruit and a firm finish.

  5. 2008 Prelude à Grand Puy Ducasse

The wine exhibits a dense, almost opaque colour with deep cherry and tobacco elegance on the nose.
The palate is up-front with sweet ripe fruit and touches of spice. It has a gorgeous chewy and
well-endowed plush texture. Pure, complex and interesting.

  6. 2010 Are You Game Cabernet Merlot, Fowles Wine

This wine has a deep crimson colour with violet hues. Aromas of blackcurrant and spicy oak play with hints of mint. The palate is full bodied with dark fruits and finely balanced tannins with a great length of flavour.

  7. 2011 The High Trellis Cabernet Sauvignon, d'Arenberg

Cooler years in McLaren Vale always lead to incredibly expressive and highly varietal Cabernets.
The High Trellis is no exception with an abundance of blackcurrant, violets and minty notes leaping from the glass.
Beautiful bright purple fruits dominate the palate, countered by typical Cabernet characters such as red capsicum skin and fresh mint.
The wine feels quite linear at this stage of its development and the combination of fruit and fine chalky tannins seems to go on and on endlessly.
A wine that can be savoured now or allowed to develop for the next five to 10 years.

  8. 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva, Viña Leyda

Soft and structured Cabernet Sauvignon with red fruit and gentle toast. Plums and cherries in the up front well integrated with hints of tobacco and mocha. It is an expressive Cabernet where the tipicity of the variety stands out from the oak. In mouth it has lively fruit, making this wine a fresh and juicy one, with soft and friendly tannins.

  9. NV Cabernet Sauvignon, Le Vigne

Displays a lovely clean and leafy blackcurranty nose. The palate is medium bodied, soft and juicy with those blackcurrants again and has a crunchy, clean finish.

  10. 2011 Chateau Mille Roses, Margaux

Deep ruby with top notes of roses and raspberry eau de vie, a middle register showing spicy wood with vanilla, almond and plum pudding and finally cocoa and coffee. Layered, very fine tannins and a medium body with incredible length and depth.
