    2001 Syrah, Planeta

    (6x75cl)

Ruby red to deep purple tones. Intense and persistent on the nose with notes of black fruits like cherry and blackberry; chocolate, leather and spices integrated with creamy vanilla and nut coming from the wood. On the palate the wine is full bodied, velvety and warm. Ending with soft and sweet tannins and with a long sumptuous finish.

    2008 One Man Band, Iona

    (6x75cl)

The wine shows cool climate freshness and a surprising intensity, with spice and gentle game notes. It is layered with fragrant sweet, ripe cherry and blackberry flavours, with underlying almond and white pepper tones. The palate is seamless, sleek and polished, with firm, ripe tannins. The wine was aged in French oak barrels (25% new) for 12 to 18 months. Drinking well now, but is suitable for cellaring for at least 10 years.

  3. 2011 Crozes Hermitage, Cuvée Laurent, Domaine Combier

Almost opaque with a purple hue, this is classic syrah from the Northern Rhone. Rich and spicy on the nose with an underlying savoury quality, the palate is rich and spicy too,
with ripe approachable tannins. The finish is long, smooth and velvety.

  4. 2011Terre de Granit, Saint Joseph, Domaine Guy Farge

Dark ruby with minerally aromatics: stone, chalk and gun flint in a subtle interplay with pepper, tapenade and dense brambly fruit. Lovely mouthwatering acidity, smooth layers of fine tannins, medium body and long finish.

  5. 2010 Crozes Hermitage Cuvée Albéric Bouvet, Domaine Gilles Robin

Vibrant aromas of plum with great texture and balance between front-mid-end palate. Fresh but rich with great sustain of flavour on the finish.

  6. 2009 Ixsir Grande Reserve Red

A nose saturated with Mediterranean character and exuberant aromas of ripe fruits and spices. Its concentrated, palate has a fine tannin texture and attractive lively black fruits which last through to a long finish.

  7. 2012 St. Chinian, Domaine du Barres

This wine displays plenty of ripe mulberry fruit on the nose and palate with soft tannins and a generous finish.

  8. 2011 Syrah, Mandrarossa

    2011 Syrah, Mandrarossa

    (6x75cl)

This Syrah signals its full bodied fruit with a vibrant, deep magenta colour and a heady perfume of hedgerow fruit and peppery spice.

  9. 2012 Cuvée Montauliers, Minervois

Intense ruby red in the glass, vibrant, spicy aromas of crunchy redcurrant and bramble. In the mouth it has a wild freshness, with balancing acidity and ripe tannin.

  10. 2009 Homage Syrah, Trinity Hill

"A marvellously fragrant wine suggesting blackberry, licorice, anise and violets. The intense, long palate marries opulence and fineness to perfection. This just might be NZ’s most intense Syrah / Viognier. It’s a huge wine with a velvet texture and masses of ripe plum and dark berry fruit flavours that are more than a match for the wine’s solidly oaky overcoat.”
